A resort is a place where people go as a rule to relax and recreate for holidays or vacations. These are places or even towns operated by a one owner. The most popular resort towns are Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, Barizo of Spain, Cortina d'Ampezzo of Italy, Nice or French Riviera of France, to name just a few. As a rule resorts are placed in exotic areas, in the mountains or at the sea side and ocean. Resorts are sometimes misused to identify a hotel. However, the term resort means a broader range of services and amenities, besides food, drink, lodging, sports.
Resorts also offer a larger number of lodgings and fancier entertainments than hotels. Hotels may constitute chains: when there are hotels of the same brand name in several cities or countries. All the large hotels operate restaurants in the same building. There are different types of hotels, like treehouse, cave, capsule, ice and snow, and underwater hotels. Hotels are usually built at most popular destinations, such as resorts, historic places, casinos, or at the railway and bus stations. For motorists on long journeys there are motels - small inns which offer direct access from the apartment to the vehicle. They are usually low-quality rooms with almost no facilities.
